Welcome to Life Went That Way. I’m Marc. Big thanks for dropping by, I’m excited you’re here.
For the best part of thirty years, People have often asked about the experiences I’ve had around the world. After all, having lived away from my home country of New Zealand for nearly fifteen years there are a few gaps to fill. I’ve not seen everywhere, far from it, but many of the places I have been to have fundamentally changed me as a person.
These lessons and experiences are what I will be sharing here. With you.
I’ll start with the most common thing people ask me about this site and why I started it.
What is Life Went That Way?
Life Went That Way is a website dedicated to informing and inspiring readers about what they may find in the world by taking a chance. By saying yes to life and travelling the world.
It all comes down to choices. Stuff happens you know? For some, it’s a long career. For others, it’s something else. Or even a bit of both. We are all different.
In my case, it is the world of travel, both domestically and abroad. Travel has given me purpose.

And because you are here reading this, I suspect that this is something that may resonate with you.
What You Will Find Here
At Life Went That Way, you will experience a journey of unique travel stories, advice and lessons. Some you may be familiar with, others not, but ultimately a journey where travel has inspired me to continue to grow as a person, learn as much as I can from other cultures and truly live the experiences that travel provides.
This lifelong journey of exploration and discovery has brought me here today. In this blog, my dream is to inspire as many people to have their own travel experiences. So with that in mind, I’m sharing some of these things with you.
I’m reluctant to call this site a travel blog. Travel blogs typically provide destination information, guides, tips and so forth. You will find this type of information here, and I would love to give any advice on places covered in my travels but, my goal is to inspire your adventures.
Finding a weekend itinerary in Berlin online is easy to find – the emotions and experiences of visiting particular places aren’t so easy to find. That is the gap I hope to fill.
My Mission
Through the articles in this blog, I want the world of travel experiences and the lessons I have learned to reach as many people as possible. That can be from home. Or work. Wherever you need a little encouragement to pursue your own adventures, whether they be near to home or abroad.
On Life Went That Way, I encourage you to share your own stories and adventures as well. Your perspectives are just as important. After all, we all experience things a bit different from each other.
Make this your space to inspire others as well.
I frequently meet people, both familiar to me and strangers, who want to create their own travel stories. However, for a variety of reasons are unable or hesitant to do so. My answer is always the same.
We can play it safe. Let life happen to us, or it can be one of adventure. Our lives can be taken away from us at any moment – our dreams should not die with us. Our dreams can take us to some magical places.
